Piascledine is a drug used to relieve the symptoms of osteoarthritis of the knee. The medicine contains unsaponifiable fractions of avocado oil and soybean oil.
Composition
The active substances of the drug are: avocado oil of the unsaponifiable fraction and soybean oil of the unsaponifiable fraction.
1 hard capsule contains 100 mg of avocado oil and 200 mg of soybean oil.
Excipients: butylated hydroxytoluene, colloidal silicon dioxide, titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin, erythrosine (E 127), yellow iron oxide (E 172), bovine gelatin (Type B), polysorbate 80.
Dosage
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. If in doubt, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
The medicine is administered orally during a meal. The capsule should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. It should not be crushed or chewed.
Treatment usually lasts 3 to 6 months and the effects of Piascledine may be delayed by up to several weeks.
If you feel that you are not improving very quickly, do not stop treatment without talking to your doctor or pharmacist.
Adults: 1 capsule daily with a meal.
Action
Piascledine relieves degenerative symptoms of articular cartilage, including pain, and as a result improves the motor system. The effect of the drug is related to the modification of the structure of joint cartilage and the reduction of its destruction.
Indications
Piascledine 300 is indicated for use in adults for the slow treatment (alleviation) of the symptoms of knee osteoarthritis.
Contraindications
When not to use Piascledine:
if you are allergic to avocado, soya or any of the other ingredients of this medicine,
if you are allergic to peanuts (e.g. peanuts, peanuts).
Side effects
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.
Uncommon side effects (affects 1 in 100 people):
diarrhea, abdominal pain, pain or burning in the stomach,
red skin rash
headache.
Very rare side effects (affects 1 in 10,000 people):
nausea, vomiting,
inflammation of the liver, jaundice or increased levels of liver enzymes in the blood,
itchy skin, rash or skin redness
arthralgia,
increased cholesterol levels in the blood.
Warnings and precautions
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Taking other medicines
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
In particular, tell your doctor if you are taking Piascledine at the same time as other medicines used to treat osteoarthritis.
Taking the medicine with food and drink
Take the medicine with a meal.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
You should not use this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Use of the drug in children and adolescents
Piascledine is a medicine intended for adults only.
